Money

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Onus → Cancel Subscription. Or open Onus and go to More → Billing, which takes you to exactly that screen in one tap. We will not ask you to email us to cancel, and there is no retention phone call.

I cancelled. Do I lose everything?

No. Custodian runs to the end of the period you already paid for. After that you are a Keeper again, and every mark, every card and every month is still on your device exactly as it was. Nothing is deleted, and nothing expires. Older months close to view, and they open again the moment you take Custodian back up.

I was charged and I did not mean to be

Refunds go through Apple, because Apple takes the payment and we never see your card. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase. If Apple declines and you think that is wrong, write to us anyway and we will help.

I paid but the app still says Keeper

Open More → Billing and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still will not restore, email us with the date of purchase and we will sort it out.

The record

I kept a day and it is not showing

Days are stored against your device’s own date, and the day rolls over at your anchor hour rather than at midnight — so a mark made at 1am belongs to the day you have just finished, not the one starting. If a day is genuinely wrong you can mark it from the ledger. Nothing is ever locked once it has passed.

I got a new phone. Where is Oni?

If you opened an account, sign in with your handle and password and Oni comes back. If you never opened one, the record was only ever on the old device — which is the same reason nobody, including us, could ever read it. If the old phone is still working, open an account on it first.

I forgot my password

If you gave a recovery email when you signed up, we can send you a reset link. If you did not, there is nothing we can do — we do not hold anything else that identifies you, by design. Onus keeps working on your device regardless.

How do I delete everything?

More → Account → Delete account removes everything held on our servers, permanently and immediately. Deleting the app removes the ledger, because the ledger was only ever on your phone.

The app

Why can I only have three?

Because the ceiling is the product. A list you can add a fortieth item to is a list you will negotiate with. Three fits in your head, and it is the number that makes the app answer to you rather than the other way round.

Why can I only change them once a week?

Because a standard you can rewrite at eleven at night on the day you are failing it is not a standard. The weekly review is where they open — on purpose, with the whole week in front of you.

I missed a day. Did I break something?

No. Oni sleeps. Oni does not die, does not lose a level and does not hold it against you. There is no streak to burn down. Mercy exists for the days that get away from you, it is earned by keeping, and it is never for sale.

What decides which form Oni takes?

Which of your three you favour over weeks, rather than how many days you have banked. There are twelve forms and the rules are not published anywhere — two people who start on the same day will not get the same creature. That is the point, so please do not ask us to tell you; we will not.

Can I import from another app?

Not yet. It is being built. If you want to bring a history across, email us and tell us which app — it decides the order we do them in.

Do you have Android?

Not yet.
